 Gotland Film Commission Surrounded by the Baltic Sea the island of Gotland has always been a tempting choice for filmmakers. The magnificent light and the many hours of sunshine have made Gotland a highly regarded film location. Over a hundred features have been shot here. Since 2002 we also provide a full-equipped studio keeping international standard. Filming in Gotland is easy 1. Gotland Film Fund invests in feature film productions. 2. Gotland Film Studios offers studio facilties. 3. Gotland Film Commission provides contact with location scouts, professional film crews and authority permissions. Climate and locations Gotland is one of Swedens top tourist destinations. The climate is mild with long summer and fall seasons. Most Swedish sceneries are found here, but also Italian coastlines, Arizona sand, African savannah and Arctic stone desert, everything within one hours’ reach. You also find nearly a hundred medieval churches and a magnificent city wall that harmonize well with a modern community with many service facilities. In the footprints of legends Ingmar Bergman, Andrej Tarkovski and legendary silent film director Victor Sjöström are a few of those who have recorded film here.
